Definition: S’more (sometimes spelled “Smore”)

Do you like chocolate and marshmallows? Then you’ll love this popular, delicious treat!

Noun: S’more is a popular camping dessert in the US and Canada. The word is a contraction of the phrase “some more”.

A S’more is made of:

1. Roasted marshmallow

2. Chocolate bar (preferably Hershey’s bar!)

3. 1 graham cracker

Recipe:

1. Place one large marshmallow on a stick and roast over the campfire until lightly browned.

2. Break a graham cracker into two pieces.

3. Place the browned marshmallow on top of the graham cracker and chocolate.

4. Place the other graham cracker on top to create a sandwich and squish the two crackers together.

5. Wait 30 seconds until the marshmallow melts the chocolate.

Fun Facts:

1. Although the true origin of s’mores is unknown, the first recipe was published in 1927 in the Girl Scout Handbook in the US.

2. About 373 million Hershey’s Milk Chocolate bars are made every year.

3. Graham crackers are similar to English biscuits and were developed in New Jersey, USA in 1829.

4. About 90 million pounds of marshmallows are sold in the U.S. every year.
