With the Fringe Festival fast-approaching, we surveyed our students at Kaplan's language school in Edinburgh and asked them about their favorite things to do in the beautiful Scottish capital.

Kaplan surveyed 301 current and former Edinburgh students aged between 18 and 59 years old from 29 countries including Saudi Arabia, Italy, Brazil, Spain, Switzerland, France, Turkey, Germany, Venezuela, Colombia, South Korea, Russia, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Iran, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, United Arab Emirates, Poland, Kurdistan, Ukraine, Sweden, Luxembourg, Republic of San Marino, Liechtenstein, Belgium, Iceland and Bosnia.

Edinburgh Castle:

Nick Finnigan, Executive Manager at Edinburgh Castle said: “We are delighted to hear that the Edinburgh Castle has been chosen as the best-loved attraction in the city by students from around the world.

“There is so much to see and enjoy at the castle with the Scottish Crown Jewels, which are amongst the oldest regalia in Europe, the Stone of Destiny, St Margaret’s Chapel, the oldest building in Edinburgh and the dramatic firing of the One O’Clock Gun.

National Museum of Scotland:

A spokesperson from National Museums Scotland said: "We are delighted that more than three quarters of international students have voted the National Museum of Scotland as their favourite museum or gallery in Edinburgh.

"It has always been the Museum’s core purpose to bring the history of the world to Scotland and that of Scotland to world, and knowing that so many students from across the globe enjoy and appreciate our Museum reinforces our standing as a world class visitor attraction."

Finnegan's Wake:

Danny Roe, General Manager of Finnegan's Wake, said: "We’re delighted to have been voted Edinburgh’s best pub by its international students. We try to make Finnegan’s Wake a fun, welcoming venue for the many students in Edinburgh, with a team of young, friendly staff, regular live music and a programme of student club social events such as our Ultimate Frisbee every Wednesday and a special night for Kaplan International students.

"We also run ‘Snapfax’ offers every day, offering a selection of drinks at affordable prices to help our student customers enjoy a night out in Finnegan’s without breaking the bank!”

Festival Theatre:

Duncan Hendry, Chief Executive of the Festival City Theatres Trust, which manages both the Festival and King’s Theatres says: "We’re delighted to see the Festival Theatre voted top in this survey, and for the King’s Theatre to be in the top three of the theatre and performance venue category.
