Summer Events In London

As the temperature begins to rise in the U.K, London in particular becomes increasingly popular. From festivals to sporting competitions, to flower shows and carnivals, here’s our guide to the best summer events in London.

Rooftop Cinema – Opening again in London this May is the Rooftop Film Club, the ultimate way to watch a film in London. Located in four rooftop locations over London, the film club offers viewers the chance to watch films under the stars, with the London sky-line as the backdrop. With blankets, wireless headphones, an outdoor barbeque and the choice between a selection of Hollywood classics and Oscar contenders, the Rooftop Club is the perfect summer event for movie fans.

The Chelsea Flower Show – Every May the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea are transformed into show grounds, showcasing new flower trends in the world’s most famous flower show. Alongside beautiful displays, garden goods are also up for sale from a host of popular retailers, while industry experts are also on hand to provide gardening tips. Known as the flower version of fashion week, the show is notorious for selling out in record time, and is one of the most popular summer events in London.

The Royal Ascot – As Britain’s most popular and famous racing event, no trip to London during the summer would be complete without a visit to the Royal Ascot. With fast horses and big hats, this is the most glamourous summer event in London, and is the perfect excuse to get dressed up and enjoy the sunshine during a summer afternoon.

Wireless Festival – For all urban music fans, London’s Wireless festival is a treat. With performances from artists such as Drake, Nicki Minaj, Avicci, David Guetta and more, the festival is an R&B lover’s dream. With dance tents, silent discos and a vast array of food stalls, catch a break during your favourite acts and relax in the sun during one of London’s most popular festivals.

Wimbledon – Whether you’re a die-hard tennis fan or simply going for the strawberries and cream, a day at Wimbledon is a British summer tradition. If you didn’t manage to get tickets, don’t let that stop you – simply grab yourself a picnic and head to Henman Hill and watch the tennis in the sunshine on the big screen.

Notting hill Carnival – If you’re visiting London in August, add the Notting hill carnival onto your bucket list. Taking place in the streets of Notting hill, the carnival stretches across two days in celebration of Afro Caribbean culture. With live DJ’s, street parades, dancers, and banjo players taking over the streets, the carnival is an explosion of colour and culture. With great food live music and street entertainers the carnival offers something for everyone, and is one of the busiest and best summer events in London.

Whether you're watching the tennis at Wimbledon or dancing at Wireless Festival, this list of summer events in London is bound to keep you occupied, and ensure that you have a brilliant summer during your stay in London.
